Who said that the value of art subject is estimated by experts? In MILDBERRY GALLERY, we believe art is something inspiring us, but not imposed on us by experts. We want to admire the art work, because we like it, and not because someone said that it has to be admired. And we don't care whether the author of the work is well-known or not. MILDBERRY GALLERY is a project about our subjective view and understanding of art. We present here the truly breathtaking works of art we do like, not the "experts". These works include painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, video art, unusual installations. If these works are of mastery and vivid we do not hesitate offering them the space at MILDBERRY GALLERY .
Send your works to us, tell us about your talented friends, and tell your friends about our project. We are waiting for new art works at: gallery@mildberry.ru.

Exhibition of paintings by Matt Moore (USA)

Since December 13

Matt is an artist who experiments with different genres — from his lauded signature Vectorfunk style of digital illustration to free-style painting and huge wall graffiti. Matt Moore is known for his participation in such hallmark modern art and culture festivals as ROJO NOVA, for his participation in sixteen personal exhibitions, including in London, Barcelona, São Paulo and Paris. The artist collaborates with Adidas, Atomic Sky, Burton, Nike, Vodafone, Ray-Ban, Google, Mazda, Wired magazine, and others. The exhibition features works from the SunRay Ricochet series, which Matt created in 2011 during his stay in Moscow. Matt believes that the Russian capital is a perfect example of correlation of the old and the new, asymmetric architecture, shadow and reflection play, optical illusions, and bright colours, and he has attempted to convey this sensation in his works. Imagine that you are looking at a crystal through a magnifying glass and each piece of art becomes a sort of a mix of geometrical lines, colour and illusions.

Exhibition of Victor Kazarin

Since May 3

MILDBERRY GALLERY hosts the exhibition of Victor Kazarin’s paintings.

Victor Kazarin is a well known artist, his works are kept in The State Tretyakov Gallery, The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow). From now on some of his paintings can be seen at our MILDBERRY GALLERY!
Victor says that the essence of his art is in “creating the paintings in an easy and free way, as if you breath, to make your paintings flow out of yourself”. Since 1976 Kazarin has permanently participated in the famous exhibitions on Malaya Gruzinskaya street in Moscow. In 1991 his personal exhibition was opened in Manege hall, where more than 600 works were represented. Since that year the artist has been called “a father of the Russian neoexpressionism” and his style is characterized as a new art phenomena.

MILDBERRY GALLERY presents the Moon Collection created by an artist. Moons in his works are the different images of woman. As Victor says, it was moon to become his muse from the very beginning of his career; it is something animated for him, and the artist sees the feminine charm in it.

Exhibition of artist Masha Semensky

Since January 17

Semenskaya

The exhibition Masha Semensky’s painitings is open in MILDBERRY GALLERY.

A series of works initiated by Masha in the summer of 2008, leads the viewer into a fairy tale, a parallel space, a myth. The heroine of the entire series is a girl, a lass, a woman. She is depicted on the canvases throughout the periods of her development. The heroine lives, dreams, experiences fear, feelings and desires. All the paintings are composed of several fragments, and this fact just reinforces the impression from works. Fragments and the composition of the works are “collected” together by abundance of natural and plant ornaments. While changing they are “segueing” from canvas to canvas, emphasizing the sensitive affecting nature of female figures that are “growing up” in front of spectators.

MILDBERRY GALLERY presents five works by Masha Semensky. “The Myth”, “Accidental circumstances”, “I’m there, where do you think I don’t”, “Kidnapped sense” and “Stereometry will cheer and inspire us and our guests for the whole month. It is the first exhibition of this series.

“Cycles are built on a recurring compositional scheme where you can find the collision of human being and the environment in which he exists. Perhaps, it’s their opposition. What is this environment? First of all, it is own ideas of human being about reality.” A. Balashov, an art critic.

“Kinderпarten” by Vladimir Semensky

Since November 8

Semensky

“Kinderпarten” by Vladimir Semensky is exhibited in MILDBERRY GALLERY since November 8.

On the canvases one can see children busy with their important childish occupations, painted by the artist with the help of big dabs. However, without an exhibition name as a hint it is not so easy to realize that Semensky depicts an ordinary day in kindergarten. As a matter of fact every painting is a portrait, yet being not merely a human’s image, but representing mostly his movements. One’s attention is not concentrated on the individuality of the portrayed person, but on his actions. And these movements in “Kindergarten” are very different. So rich is a color palette: the painter uses vivid colors to emphasize children cute perception of the world around them.

“Semensky is a contemporary artist and man. His art is not limited by the commenting of relationship in a narrow artist circle or by the format of relationship with friends and close acquaintances portrayed on the paintings. It would be too simple. And it would be almost impossible to find a subject of art here, if the meaning of his expression was limited by the creation of portrait series. However, the museums full of the portraits of recognizable contemporaries are created in this manner. None of these museums has something related to art culture: their expositions just dub entertainment cultural programs of wax museums.”
A. Balashov, an art critic.

First exhibition of artist Arshak Sarkissian in Russia

Since September 2

Arshak Sarkisyan

Arshak Sarkissian was born in Gyumri, Armenia, in 1981. This 29-year-old artist is already well known in the world of contemporary art. Arshak was born in the family of famous artist Ararat Sarkissian, so he could not but follow in his father’s wake. In 2002 he graduated from the Cyprus College of Art in Cyprus, and in 2005 he was awarded the Presidential Prize of Fine Arts. In 2008 Sarkissian was selected among 1,500 candidates to participate in the annual Art Omi International Artist Residency program. The works of the participants of such programs usually are evaluated in seven-digit amounts.

His works were noticed and highly appreciated by the greatest art experts, including the members of the famous designer Fendi family. Sarkissian’s works are bought by private collectors in Europe and America. They were exhibited in Armenia, USA, England, Germany and Cyprus.

Arshak in his works tells us a story of deliverance from prejudices of society, about different people, their freedom and limitations, their pain and joy, loneliness and happiness… Everybody has a mask in this life, hiding with this mask his own confusion and shame caused by his own emotions. We need mask to talk on the important themes, since without it we usually talk hardly and boringly. Acting, theatre, vivid suites and colors can reveal even the most hidden qualities of human being.

That is why, probably, the works of Arshak are so theatrical. Theatre modes are very instrumental in terms of going out of the frames and playing own role with natural wishes and displays. Weird freaky people, unusual details, bizarre scenes created by Sarkissian, acting as a stage director, hold the spectator’s attention for a long time.

Sarkissian’s works are a parallel world; and the guide to it is a man with a chicken’s head appearing in various corners of the paintings-shows.

We were inspired by Arshak and his art, and created a joint art-experiment. The whole September, while the exhibition lasts, we’ll investigate a theme of inner freedom of human being, and we’ll do it with the help of theatre and stage-director Victoria Zvyagina.

At the exhibition’s opening our guests will see a performance with Arshak playing in it. Next three nights the sketches from The Night of Fenix new play will be shown. The main characters are people resembling those from Arshak’s canvases. Three stories will be performed telling us about freedom, its significance in life and its different levels; about those who are free people and what happens to those who can not dare to be free.

The performance will take place on September 2, during the exhibition’s opening; the sketches from the play will be shown on September 8, 16 and 23.
